Accident and Emergency

Rapid diagnosis and treatment service for patients who are seriously injured or fall ill. Conditions treated in A&E departments range from suspected broken bones to suspected heart attack.

Treatment is provided for any condition that could be life threatening. The department is not for second opinions on long-term conditions or for minor illnesses where it is more appropriate for patients to go to their GP. Triage system to give proirity to urgent cases and depending on the number of people waiting as well will mean you will have to wait longer if you have a less serious problem.
