Making a stand against AIDS

World AIDS Day is an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died. This year, the LGBT + Group hosted an information stand in the Education Centre.
Many people still don't know the facts about how to protect
themselves and others, and stigma and discrimination remain a
reality for people living with the condition. It's also important
to remember that HIV and AIDS are not the same thing.
Julie Newton, Employee Relations Advisor, said: "As a group we
wanted to raise awareness and be part of this important day. In the
UK, extremely effective treatment is available for HIV meaning that
people living with HIV are able to expect a near normal life
expectancy and good health. HIV effects people from all walks of
life, so we would encourage everyone to have regular HIV
