Bringing HR together as one team

The HR teams at Basildon, Mid Essex and Southend are forming one shared service that supports the Mid and South Essex University Hospitals in advance of the Trusts merging in 2020. The HR operating model has now been finalised, bringing the team closer to becoming one.

HR centers of excellence will work in partnership with site specific Business Partners: 

  • Resourcing and Strategic Planning, led by Cathy O'Driscoll
  • Operations and Employee Experience, led by Larraine Howard-Jones
  • HR Projects and Governance, led by Angela Paradise
  • Organisation Development (OD), led by Dr Penny Newman
  • Basildon Business Partners, led by Liz Edelman
  • Mid Essex Business Partners, led by Jennifer Canham
  • Southend Business Partners, led by Sue Bridge

A lot of work is already underway across HR to deliver a smarter & reliable HR service, with consistent policies, procedures, streamlined processes, quality data and clear accountability. The aim is to create a responsive HR service that supports better decision making, reduces spend and enables front line staff to focus on patient care.

HR Business Partners will be based at their respective hospitals. The large majority of HR staff will move from their existing locations to Britannia Park in Southend throughout August. The first teams moving are the Bank and Agency teams and the Recruitment teams on Friday 2 August.
