ERAN celebrate four years of success
27 September 2018
This month the Early Rehab and Nursing Team (ERAN) celebrate their fourth birthday. The team of nurses, physiotherapists, senior assistants and administrative staff facilitate early discharge of patients who have had planned hip and knee surgery and patients who have sustained a fractured hip.
It's been a huge success making a real difference to the lives
of patients, expanding from one patient group to six over the past
four years. The team have reduced the length of stay for both
elective and trauma patients and have provided much needed support
after discharge from hospital.
ERAN provides patients with an individual programme of recovery,
allowing them to recover in a timeframe acceptable to them.
The dedicated team progress patients with their
mobility, give advice on pain relief and provide wound care and
general post-operative care advice..
Cath Comery, ERAN Manager, said: "Patients love this service and
we have so many compliments. They don't have to travel back
to the hospital for their physiotherapy or to come back to
orthopaedic clinic. They receive one-to-one care, all of
which gives them time to ask questions and receive a service
tailor-made for their needs.
"I am very proud of my team, they work incredibly hard and they
strive to make a difference to all our patients."
