In-house Temporary Staffing Service gets bigger
05 September 2019
Non-medical temporary staffing at Basildon and medical temporary staffing at Mid Essex will move to the in-house Temporary Staffing Service from Monday 9 September.
The change brings us closer to our goal of having one internal
staff bank across the Mid and South Essex Hospitals Group, with
improved and consistent policies and procedures and greater
control. It draws an end to our temporary staffing contracts with
Medacs and NHS Professionals, and provides staff with the
opportunity to work temporary shifts at any of our Mid and South
Essex hospitals. It follows non-medical temporary staffing at Mid
Essex which moved over to the in-house service in July.
Join the staff bank
If you, or someone you know, would like to join the internal staff
bank for extra shifts across our hospitals, please contact the
in-house Temporary Staffing team: firstname.lastname@example.org
or 01245 362 000 ext. 2032.
Work continues to enhance the service
A lot of work continues to bring the Temporary Staffing Service
- Renew our relationships with agencies.
Although our aim is to reduce reliance on agencies we still need
their help when we cannot fill a shift using our internal staff
bank. We continue to work with a consolidated list of agencies to
redefine our relationship and put the right controls in place.
- Complete a system overhaul moving Basildon to the same
shift booking platform used at Southend and Mid Essex,
Health Roster. Employee Online replaces the NHS Professional
booking platform and works in conjunction with self-booking app
'Me', which can be easily downloaded free from Google Play or the
Apple App Store. It makes it much easier at Basildon to release
shifts for staff to book on. Drop-in training sessions for the new
system are currently taking place at Basildon. View times and dates
- Introduced Locum's Nest app at Mid Essex,
making it easier for Doctors to find, book and receive payment for
shifts. In just one week of launching, 1,200 shifts where visible
on the app to almost 200 doctors. A further 40 doctors have since
requested to join our internal staff bank and 700 shifts have
already been filled via Locum's Nest. The app will be launched in
October to Doctors at Basildon and Southend.
- Distribute new uniforms to staff moving from NHS
Professional to our internal staff bank. This will be done
gradually, with pure bank workers continuing to wear their NHSP
uniform until replacement uniforms are available (approximately six
weeks). Affected staff will be contacted to complete a uniform
