Cohort completes Core Leadership Programme
17 January 2019
A group of staff from Mid Essex, Southend and Basildon hospitals have successfully completed the msb Core Leadership Programme, run by the msb institute.
The programme, which took place between May 2018 and January
2019, is a bespoke leadership programme and enables staff to
develop their knowledge, skills and behaviours to become effective
leaders of the future.
A celebratory presentation took place on Thursday 10 January in
the Education Centre at Southend University Hospital and
participants were presented with certificates of completion by
Danny Hariram, Chief People & Organisational Development
With the merger of Basildon, Mid Essex and Southend hospitals
set to complete in 2020, this programme is a great way of bringing
staff together and developing the leadership skills that will take
the newly merged organisation forward.
Christine Pearcy, leadership and talent consultant, msb
institute, said: "Participants had the opportunity to work on real
time projects with expert support. Each participant is supported to
achieve their individual objectives."
As part of the programme, staff attended 6 workshops, committed
to 75 hours of independent learning per month and worked on an
individual service improvement project. Workshops covered topics
such as understanding yourself as a leader; connecting services and
systems leadership; and understanding how to influence and manage
Feedback from participants included:
"The programme has enabled me to meet staff from across sites
and learn from others"
"Now I have a fundamental understanding of how other trusts
"The programme allowed me to reflect on my own strengths and
areas for development"
Future programmes are planned on each of the three sites
during 2019. To find out more about the msb institute and the
