NHSI Green rating

06 September 2018

An infection, prevention and control (IPC) inspection took place on 15 August by NHSI and the Trust has successfully achieved a Green rating.

The inspectors noted that there were clear improvements in all aspects of IPC since their previous visits in August 2017 (Red rated) and May 2018 (Amber rating), and said the Trust should be very proud of the hard work by all involved to achieve this rating.

The visit included Shopland Ward, Gordon Hopkins/CCU and High Dependancy Unit and the report stated that all of these areas:

• had patients who were well cared for, mobilising or sitting out where possible

• were personal protective equipment (PPE) compliant

• clean wards; tidy and uncluttered

• Staff observed bare below the elbows (BBE).

Overall the report also noted that there was high and low dusting throughout the Trust, general corridors were clean and clutter free, Patslides were clean and all bathrooms had wipeable cords.
