One Occupational Health and Wellbeing service across our hospitals group
21 August 2019
OH and Wellbeing specialists from across the hospitals group are now working together as one team, led by Sue Hillman, Associate Director of Occupational Health and Wellbeing.
Due to the nature of the Occupational Health service, team
members providing clinical support such as immunisations, blood
tests and support for staff following needlestick and splash
injuries continue to be based on-site. However, Sue and the team's
administrators are based at Basildon Hospital.
The service has been enhanced with the appointment of a
wellbeing team, also based at Basildon Hospital. The team is
working together to promote health and wellbeing benefits that keep
a positive and healthy work environment and workforce.
"Some things remain the same for Occupational Health and
Wellbeing in terms of a clinical presence on each site, but the aim
has been to establish a single management structure, consolidate
administration and make sure that a fuller range of wellbeing
services are provided consistently across the Trusts," says Sue
Hillman, Associate Director of Occupational Health and Wellbeing.
"Some things will change in preparation for the merger, such as
standardising our policies and procedures. This takes time, but we
are making great progress."
A key benefit of the merged service is that the new Occupational
Health IT system will provide managers and applicants with online
access to services, as well as providing on-site face-to-face
meetings for staff nearer to their homes, eg staff will be able to
attend any of the three hospitals regardless of where they
'I am confident that by becoming part of a larger team, we will
see an improvement in the quality and consistency of our
Occupational Health and Wellbeing services," continues Sue.
