Southend Pride - come and be part of Pride with us!

12 July 2018

Pride is coming to Southend and we're getting involved.

Celebrations start pm 14 July  and the week ends on 21 July with the parage and a festival in Warrior Square Gardens.

Southend Hospital is going to have two stalls in Warrior Square, one staffed by members of our LGBT group and one by the recruitment team, and they will be showcasing how Southend supports and champions LGBT staff within the NHS, while also promoting current vacancies at the Trust.

Southend's LGBT Network Group promote equality and diversity, along with the Trust's BAME (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic), Disability and Faith Network Groups.

The group is open and transparent and gives people a voice, enabling discussions in a safe and welcoming environment, raising awareness and advancing education on matters affecting the LGBT community.

Julie Newton, Employee Relations Advisor and LGBT Group member at Southend, said "I'm really pleased that Southend Hospital is going to be part of Southend Pride this year, but I want to go further and get staff from across all the three Trusts involved.

"I'd love to have interested staff from Basildon and Broomfield join us on the day, so we're throwing open the invitation - our LGBT group would be thrilled to help represent the NHS for mid and south Essex at Southend Pride and welcome our colleagues along."

If you're interested in getting involved and would like to come along to Southend Pride, please contact Julie Newton, julie.newton@southend.nhs.uk for more information.
