TeleTracking celebrates one year
06 November 2019
At the end of October 2019, Alan Tobias, Chairman of Mid Essex and Southend Hospitals and Yvonne Blücher, Managing Director of Southend Hospital, joined the TeleTracking Control Centre team at St Andrews Centre, Billericay to celebrate the first year of using TeleTracking.
TeleTracking plays a significant role in
managing bed allocations. The innovative electronic patient flow
and capacity management tool was introduced to our hospitals group,
starting with Southend in October 2018, and is managed by the
Control Centre Team at Billericay. The team of 51 staff supports
Basildon, Broomfield and Southend Hospitals to manage bed occupancy
across the three sites, ensuring that the patient experience is
enhanced by allocating the correct bed first time.
By working together with our clinical colleagues, we can help to
manage bed allocation and occupancy much more effectively across
the three sites whilst freeing them up to focus on clinical care.

working across different sites. Over the last year they have
all grown in confidence, skills and knowledge and have become an
awesome team, I am so proud of all of them and look forward to
the next stage of the journey to improve patient flow."
Dom Ward, Deputy Control Centre Manager, said:"We have continued
to grow as a service and we keep getting better and better and
that's because of the support of the whole team. The culture change
has been the biggest challenge so far and we are doing a lot of
development work to get our processes standardised across the three
"It's all about getting the right patients in the right bed and
we work really hard to make that happen. We've got a really good
