Trauma and Orthopaedic Theatre Team voted training Hospital of the Year
06 December 2018
The Southend Hospital Trauma and Orthopaedic team has been voted training hospital of the year 2018 by the Royal London Hospital Trauma and Orthopaedic Society.
Mr Neil Davis, Trauma and Orthopaedic theatre team leader, said:
"This is a fantastic achievement and stands testament to the
teamwork and professionalism of the team. There are challenges in
balancing service delivery with training opportunities, but a
challenge that is clearly being met by the Orthopaedic theatre
As well as receiving that accolade the Orthopaedic theatre team
also received a vote of thanks from Mr Dott, an Orthopaedic
Registrar, who spoke about the team as being the best he has ever
worked with. He wrote to them, wanting to formally thank all
the Orthopaedic theatre staff for all their help and support over
the past year at Southend.
In his letter to the team, Mr Dott wrote: "When we arrive at a
new hospital as we rotate around the region for our training, we
are completely reliant on guidance from theatre staff to help
us operate without looking and feeling like we don't have
a clue what we're doing. The expertise and personability of
the entire Orthopaedic theatre staff body has meant this has been
the case for me from day one through to day 365. I can honestly say
that you are the best team I've worked with."
