February's Hospital Hero -
27 February 2015
February's Hospital Hero is cardiac and medical day stay domestic, Joseph Holmes.
Joseph's outstanding work in the cardiac and medical day stay
ward has led him to consistently achieve excellent cleaning audit
results, and has also earned him February's Hospital Hero
He consistently goes above and beyond his regular duties
to ensure the ward is spotlessly clean and presentable at all
times. In addition to cleaning and keeping the ward well stocked,
Joe is renowned for turning a capable hand to anything, often
fixing things like broken paper towel dispensers.
Cardiac and medical day stay deputy ward manager, Sharon
Wallace said: "Joe is an excellent role model for staff and has a
reputation for being outstanding at his job, but at the same time
he is very modest.
"He does his job with a cheerful disposition and has a
friendly and helpful nature. He consistently goes above and beyond
in really caring about maintaining a clean ward which has a real
positive impact on our patients and visitors, helping them to form
a good opinion of the ward itself and, in turn, the hospital."
Joseph worked as a domestic at the hospital for over 20 years,
but sadly retired very recently due to ill health. The award
was accepted on his behalf by members of the domestic team.
