July's Hospital Hero - Karen Morgan
05 August 2015
July’s Hospital Hero is library and knowledge manager, Karen Morgan.
Karen's ambition is clear - to improve library services for all
whilst ensuring money is spent wisely - and her dedication to
achieving this whilst enhancing the undergraduate and postgraduate
experience at Southend University Hospital is second to none.
Karen is approachable, enthusiastic and always prepared to go
the extra mile to support individuals or teams. Her kind and
compassionate manner makes it very easy for people to seek advice
from her. She is continually pro-active in promoting the library as
a resource where people can undertake a variety of different
development activities - and not just clinical.
Her willingness to assist and provide support was also recently
acknowledged in a personal letter from the NIHR Doctoral Fellow at
Medical education manager, Katie Palmer, who nominated Karen for
this month's award, said: 'Karen is a pleasure to manage - she is
motivated, focused and innovative.
"Despite challenges she has succeeded in promoting the profile
of the library and the services it offers as a resource for all
staff in the trust, and has plans for further development of
services throughout 2015 and onwards."
