A right royal wrap-up
16 December 2014
This weekend (Saturday 20 and Sunday 21) a band of willing volunteers will be in the Royals shopping centre in Southend to wrap your presents in exchange for a donation to Southend Hospital’s Keyhole Cancer Appeal.
It's that time of year: the sheet of wrapping paper is a
fraction too small for the parcel, you can't find the end of the
roll of sticky tape, the dog has chewed up all the gift tags and
every pair of scissors you ever owned has disappeared into a black
hole. But fear not - help is at hand to ease the stress.
The Appeal has been chosen as the Royals' nominated charity of
the year and fundraisers are hoping that shoppers will give
generously to have one seasonal chore ticked off their 'to do'
In addition to the bespoke wrapping service, there will be arts
and crafts to keep the kids busy and Appeal mascot Buddy Bear will
be spreading his own furry form of festive cheer.
Elise Fleetwood, events and corporate relations manager, said:
"This will be our second stint at the Royals this Christmas and we
know how popular it is with busy shoppers. We are extremely
grateful to both the Royals management and to our band of cheerful
and dextrous volunteers for giving up their time to raise funds and
help others at this hectic time of year."
