Governor election results announced

The results have been announced of elections to Southend University Hospital's board of governors, conducted using the single transferable vote electoral system. Voting took place in May.

The successful candidates are:

  • Southend-on-Sea (public): David Hobbs and Linda Cook
  • Southend-on-Sea (patient): Arthur Gaze
  • Castle Point (patient): Christine Watts
  • Rochford (public): Barbara Oliver (unopposed)
  • Rest of Essex (public): George Cutting and Joyce White (unopposed)
  • Rest of Essex (patient): Judith Craven (unopposed)
  • All of Essex (carer): Maureen Sutcliffe (unopposed)
  • Worker (hospital and treatment centres): Liz Leigh and Kym Popplewell (unopposed)
  • Worker (Britannia House): Kay Bell (unopposed)

There remains a vacancy for another governor to represent the public in Rochford.

Hospital chairman, Alan Tobias, said: "We congratulate the successful candidates on their election and we are sure that they will enjoy their time in office."
