Following an overwhelming response to last year's appeal,
Southend University Hospital is again calling on young artists to
help cheer up patients who will spend Christmas in a hospital
bed.
Children are being asked to design, make and send Christmas
cards to be distributed around the wards by youngsters from the
hospital's Ladybird nursery.
Childcare business manager, Lisa Green, said: "Last year we
called on kids to think of those who will not be at home with their
families on the big day. We received a fantastic response, and even
had some cards from as far away as Dorset.
"We are repeating our appeal this year and feel sure children in
the area will again be only too ready to get out their paints,
glitter and cotton wool to show their artistic flair and their
caring nature. They can make such a difference to patients who
cannot get home, and make Christmas a bit more special for
them."
Cards should be sent to Lisa at the family support office,
education centre, Southend University Hospital, Prittlewell Chase,
Southend, SS0 0RY by Friday, December 7 to ensure time for
distribution around the wards.
Lisa said: "We can't wait to see what the coming weeks' postbag
will bring."
