It’s the most wonderful time of the volunteer
10 December 2014
Volunteering
There ain’t no party like a Southend Hospital volunteers party and over 70 dedicated volunteers attended a small Christmas bash organised by the hospital to say thanks to them for their continued hard work and dedication recently.
With over 400 volunteers the hospital is helped by local people
of all ages who do everything from being feeding buddies to charity
shop volunteers and hospital gardeners to the Carecars patient
transport scheme.
They say that Christmas is about giving, those volunteering at
Southend Hospital give the gift of their time and understanding
throughout the year and the hospital thought it important and right
to recognise that vital contribution that its army of volunteers
make.
Acting chief executive, Sue Hardy, also attended, giving her
thanks and took the opportunity to meet some of the truly dedicated
individuals who give up their precious time to help others at the
hospital.
Sue told them: "This hospital, like many others, relies on the
positive impact that volunteers bring and each and every one of you
plays an important and vital role in helping those in need."
