Volunteering
Do you like dealing with people? Working as a team while raising money to help raise money for one of the best causes around – the fight against breast cancer?
If so, then why not think about volunteering for a few hours a
week atSouthendHospital's charity shop in Westcliff?
The shop moved has re-opened in new, larger premises at183
Hamlet CourtRoad, next to Boots the chemist.
And we need more helpers to join the ranks of existing
volunteers such as Diane Bromfield and Tony Collins, pictured here
with hospital trustee Malachy O'Sullivan.
"Moving to this location was a good idea - we have bigger and
brighter premises, more parking - including spaces outside the
shop," says Malachy, who helps all day every Thursday.
"This means we are getting more donations, and customers have
actually remarked on the quality of the items we sell.
"There is a real buzz about the shop - especially when you
consider the money we raise goes towards helping local women in the
fight against breast cancer."
Shifts run from 9.30am-1pm and from 1pm to 4.30pm and most
volunteers work one shift a week. Jobs include sorting stock and
serving. No experience is needed and training and support are
provided. All travel expenses are met.

- We are also recruiting for a part-time paid supervisor role,
due to be advertised this week.
