A ladies-only gym in Southend held a ‘bra amnesty’ in aid of Southend Hospital’s appeal to fight breast cancer.

Energie Fitness in Southend, is asking women to bring in their unwanted brassieres into the fundraising unit at the hospital's outpatients department.

The lingerie will then be collected and those in good condition sold at the hospital's Bosom Pals charity shop at 183 Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff.

Energie Fitness is based above the Post Office near the WHSmith end of Southend High Street, and caters for women of varying fitness and health conditions, including women who have had breast cancer.

"We wanted to support the appeal as it supports local women," says gym co-owner Sally Watson. "Everyone knows someone who has had breast cancer, so it's something that is very close to our hearts."
