Team spirit boosts hospital charity

24 July 2013

There was a nailbiting finish to a fundraising cricket fixture organised by Royal Bank of Scotland’s service centre.

The highly-contested struggle - played out by Steve's Spinners, Mick's Medium Pacers and Gareth's Googlies - coincided with a charity raffle and dress-down day at Old Southendian and Southchurch Cricket Club to benefit Southend University Hospital's Bosom Pals Appeal On The Road and the cricket club's community coaching activities. Each received a cheque for £1,150. All three games of 10 overs-a-side were extremely close, with two of them being decided on the very last ball bowled.

The hospital's community fundraising manager, Kayley Harvey, said: "We are enormously grateful to all the RBS staff who gave up their spare time to help our appeal. Although the matches were ferociously competitive, they were played in a great spirit and everyone enjoyed the atmosphere of the day.

"We really would like to thank everyone involved, with a special mention for staff charity coordinator Mick Daley for his continued support."
