Hospital charity shop gets technical boost
04 September 2013
Staff at Southend University Hospital’s Westcliff charity shop have been linked up with cyberspace thanks to a generous donation from a supporter.
Gary Hodson, one of Southend Hospital Charitable Foundation's
trustees, donated a laptop which his company, e2v technologies UK
ltd does not need.
The computer will provide the charity shop supervisor, Wendy
Rattley, with email access and help her manage the shop rota more
efficiently. She'll also be able to use it to look up various items
on-line to ensure they are being priced correctly and assess if
they are of particular value.
Kayley Harvey, community fundraising manager, said: "We are very
grateful to Mr Hodson and his company. The laptop will be so well
used - our shop workers and volunteers will wonder how on earth
they ever managed without it!"
The shop still welcomes volunteers to sort donated items and
serve behind the counter. If you can spare a few hours a week,
contact Kayley on 01702 385337, ext 6401 or email Kayley.firstname.lastname@example.org
