£2k boost for Dementia Appeal
26 January 2015
The concert-goers unpacked their picnics, the orchestra struck up, the night sky filled with dazzling fireworks and, thanks to the Rotary Club of Rayleigh Mill, Southend University Hospital’s Dementia Appeal received a £2,000 boost.
The hospital was delighted to be co-beneficiary of last year's
Concert in the Park - a popular annual fixture in Southend's Priory
Park when the English Pops Orchestra conducted by Louis Clark was
joined by Southend Boys' and Girls' Choir and 70s group Flashbax
(featuring a number of musical Rotarians).
The concerts have now been running for 17 years during which
time they have raised around £400,000 for various charities.
Hospital community fundraiser, Mica Day, said: "The event has
now become a highlight of the local entertainment calendar and we
are delighted that the Rotary Club of Rayleigh Mill chose to
support our Dementia Appeal."
