03 July 2015

Health Care

A special presentation took place last week for the hospital’s CADGERS, a support group for people with urological cancers.

Len Shulton is retiring after more than 10 years as chairman of CADGERS and, as a huge thank you on behalf of the group, was presented with a bottle of champagne by clinical nurse specialist (CNS) Ann French. A bouquet of flowers was also presented to his wife, Loretta, by Sarah Barnicoat (CNS).

Len said: "Thank you to everyone for their support and although I'm stepping down as chairman, I am looking forward to continue attending the meetings."

It was Len's suggestion to form the support group and CADGERS was set up by Len and Loretta with the very first meeting taking place in 2003. The support group has gone from strength to strength ever since with over 50 members.

Although retiring as chairman, Len and his wife will still attend future meetings. He will be succeeded by CADGERS treasurer, Roger Bassett.

CADGERS supports group meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month between 6pm and 8pm in the hospital's education centre. For more information please call Anne Tull on 01702 385369.
