Joyce Long in memory garden sale

12 April 2016

Fundraising

The late great Joyce Long may have died late last year, but daughter Angela Alden is having one last garden sale in her memory to raise money for Southend Hospital’s Keyhole Cancer Appeal.

The sale will be at the charity superstar's home, 22, Park Road, Thundersley, from Monday April 25 to Saturday April 30, running from 9am to 4pm.

Bric-a-brac, old furniture, toys and other vintage items donated by well-wishers will be on sale.

Joyce, who raised more than £1.5 million for Southend Hospital over three decades, died last December at the age of 86. The great-gran used to raise around £12,000 a year for the hospital from the proceeds of three seasonal garden sales held at her home.

Angela, 66, said: "The family wanted to do a spring sale. We have got quite a bit of stuff here. It won't be the same as when Joyce ran them, but we will do our best."

To offer a donation, please call Joyce's daughter, Angie, on 01268 751767, and please do not drop off at the house. From approx. 9am to 4pm.
