If you haven't bought, wrapped and labelled your Christmas gifts by mid-September, don’t despair. You should find presents to suit lots of the names on your list when Southend University Hospital stages its popular annual craft and gift fair next month.

There will be handicrafts, jewellery, cards, toys and loads more original ideas to have you ticking names off your list in jubilation.

And beside all the stalls, local pottery painting experts; The Clay Cottage will also be on hand, for children to decorate some home-made gifts of their own. Along with other children's crafts and games to help keep them entertained while you shop. Christmas shopping always works up an appetite so plenty of refreshments are available as well as a raffle.

The fair runs from 10.30am to 4pm at The Mill, Bellingham Lane, Rayleigh on Sunday, November 6 with a charge of £1.50 for adults (under-16s go free). As an added bonus, parking at the venue is free.

All proceeds from the day will benefit Southend Hospital's Paediatric Outpatient's department.

Elise Fleetwood, Event Manager, said: "The annual craft fair is always an extremely popular fixture in the run-up to Christmas and we are sure this year's will be no exception. There will be a wide array of handmade gifts produced by some highly talented local crafts people that will make perfect gifts and stocking fillers.

"We are hugely thankful to event organiser and charity Trustee; Malachy O'Sullivan for his on-going commitment to this event and also local business; Amos Estates, for sponsoring the event, helping to ensure that every penny raised goes straight to Paediatric Outpatients.  We are hoping for a bumper turn-out and welcome all."
