The Prittlewell and District Angling Society have donated £3,410 to Oncology services at Southend University Hospital.

The money, raised during the groups bi-annual charity matches, was presented to Clinical Oncology Service Manager, Clare Bracken. She said: "We are delighted to receive the very generous donation from the Prittlewell and District Angling Society and it was a pleasure to meet Martin and Peter and thank them personally.  Our patients will definitely benefit from this wonderful generosity."

The group, founded in 1957, have been long standing supporters of the hospital and have donated over £30,000 to enhance the Oncology service over the years.

Match Secretary Martin Johnson and Chairman Peter Isitt described how members and friends have been affected by cancer and have been cared for at Southend Hospital over that time. They said: "We are a local club who have lakes in both Eastwood and Hullbridge and we wanted to ensure our charitable donations benefitted local people."
