Health Care

Updated 16 May 2017: Southend University Hospital has not, at this time, been directly affected by the global cyber attack.

However, as an early precaution to ensure the continuing safety of patients and IT systems, the hospital's IT Department disconnected access to the internet and external emails.

We have safely brought most of our IT systems and computers back online after ensuring that the most recent security updates have been applied. As a precaution to protect our systems and data, some systems, including the sending and receiving of external emails, remain unavailable.

There have been no changes to patients' appointments at this time.

We ask patients and visitors for their understanding while we work with colleagues across the NHS to resolve this threat and bring all systems safely back online.
