Fundraising

Evie Murphy, aged 9, from Benfleet, has been raising money for Neptune Children’s Ward at Southend Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH).

She wanted to raise money as a 'thank you' for the care her younger brother Archie, aged 5, has received during his treatment for leukaemia.

Evie presented a cheque for £303 to staff on Neptune, which was raised at Kent's Hill Infant School in Benfleet, which Evie attends. Pupils donated a pound and wore a bandage round their arms or legs for a whole day.

Kate Murphy, Evie's mum, said: "I am so very proud of Evie for coming up with such an original idea to raise money for Neptune Ward and GOSH, she has been such an inspiration and brave supportive sister to Archie."
