Hospital ward purchases new TVs thanks to family fund
21 August 2018
Southend University Hospital’s Estuary Ward recently purchased five 32-inch LED TVs thanks to funds raised by a family in memory of Frederick Dadds, who sadly passed away having been cared for on the ward.
In 2013, Fred was diagnosed with stomach cancer and given just
seven weeks to live. He passed away on 13 August 2013 surrounded by
his wife Maureen and three daughters, Karen, Tina and Lynette. Fred
leaves behind six grandchildren who love and miss him greatly.
Earlier this year, Maureen and Tina visited the hospital to see
the TVs which were purchased by the ward thanks to their fund.
Fred's daughter, Tina Dadds, said: "Estuary Ward looked after
our loving father, husband, grandfather and great grandfather,
helping his passing to be as comfortable as possible. This donation
is to thank all the staff especially Fiona Mowatt the sister nurse
on duty that night. We hope that the patients enjoy the use of the
TVs during their stay at Southend Hospital."
