Local people ‘Walk for Wards’ raising thousands
25 September 2018
With over 250 people taking part, this year’s Walk for Wards once again saw large crowds of people take part in the 7km walk along the seafront to raise money for Southend University Hospital.
It's expected that over £15,000 will be raised for 30 different
wards and departments and Charity Director, Lucy Thomas-Clayton,
was delighted at the turnout.
She said: "Supporters of all ages turned out in force and there
was a fantastic atmosphere. It was really lovely to hear so
many wonderful stories about how Southend Hospital staff have
helped our local community.
"We are hugely grateful to our wonderful team of volunteers and
our event sponsors - Sea Life Adventure Wild - who have ensured
that every penny raised will directly benefit our hospital."
And if that has inspired you to have a go next year, then you
are in luck as the date for Walk For Wards 2019 has already been
set, Sunday 15 September. Please email email@example.com to
