Southend Hospital‘s Charity Christmas gift fair returns

12 November 2018

Not started your Christmas shopping yet? Don’t despair. You should find presents to suit lots of the names on your list when Southend University Hospital stages its popular annual craft and gift fair on Sunday 18 November.

There will be handicrafts, jewellery, cards, toys and loads more original ideas to have you ticking names off your list.

And beside all the stalls, Santa will be coming to town to meet local children and collect their wish lists.  Children's crafts and games will also be available to help keep little ones entertained while you shop. Christmas shopping always works up an appetite so plenty of refreshments are available as well as a raffle.

The fair runs from 10.30am to 4pm at The Mill, Bellingham Lane, Rayleigh on Sunday 18 November with a charge of £1.50 for adults (under-16s go free). As an added bonus, parking at the venue is free.

All proceeds from the day will benefit Southend Hospital's For Wards Appeal, specifically benefitting the hospital's Paediatric Department.

Jenny Malone, community fundraiser, said: "The annual craft fair is always an extremely popular fixture in the run-up to Christmas and we are sure this year's will be no exception. There will be a wide array of handmade gifts produced by some highly talented local crafts people that will make perfect gifts and stocking fillers.

"We are hugely thankful to event organiser and charity Trustee; Malachy O'Sullivan MBE for his on-going commitment to this event and also local business; Amos Estates, for sponsoring the event, helping to ensure that every penny raised directly benefits young patients.  We are hoping for a bumper turn-out and welcome all."
