Fundraising
Claire Franks, from Shoebury, has been selling organic cotton face masks with filters and donating 20% of each sale to Southend Hospital’s Neil Rothnie Breast Unit. So far she has raised an amazing £1,004.80.
She wanted to raise money for the Unit after receiving excellent
treatment for breast cancer there and at Broomfield Hospital
earlier this year.
Over 600 packs of masks have been sold so far, via the Facebook
page 'Face Masks Essex', and have proved so popular they've been
sold as far away as Australia, as well as closer to home to
Scotland, Bristol and Hampshire.
Claire said: "The care I received at both Southend and
Broomfield hospitals was fantastic and I wanted to give something
back to say thank you."
The donated money means the Neil Rothnie Breast Unit will be
able to buy essential wrist bands to help protect patients who are
at higher risk of infection or lymphoedema after having some of
their lymph nodes removed.
