Southend takes Pride

Southend LGBT+ Group and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Team represented the Trust at this year’s Southend Pride for the second time, with around 30 members of staff. The team had a stand and many other NHS staff marched in the parade.
Despite the weather, this did not stop people marching and
attending the event. The team saw 1,000 people march in the parade
through Southend high street and over 5,000 attended throughout the
The day was a great success and although there was a mixture of
sunshine and showers, there was an abundance of rainbows.
Lisa Walton, from the Patient Experience Team, was a volunteer
on the stand. She said: "Once again it was a brilliant experience
and opportunity to showcase the amazing attitude Southend Hospital
has towards equality and diversity, not only in our workplace but
throughout our local community."
Louise McIver, Equality Diversity Inclusion Manager, said:
"Thanks to the team for their support and together with the wards
competition for decorating their areas in preparation for Pride and
being at the event. We really did show our commitment to diversity
representing the whole of the Trust. It was great team effort and
fun was had by all."
