About us

Find out more about joining and using the library.

Join the library

All staff and students on placement at the hospital, plus other NHS staff working within the South Essex community, are eligible to join the library. You will need to register as a library member before borrowing items.

You can register in person at the library by showing your NHS ID badge or student ID along with your hospital placement dates. Alternatively, you can download and email a completed copy of the library membership form, available below, from your hospital email account (Southend Hospital staff only).

Members must agree to abide by the library regulations, which are outlined on page two of the library membership form. It is your responsibility to notify us of any changes to your personal details. Library membership cards and PIN numbers are not transferable.

On request, members of the public can access the library on a reference-only basis.
