The ward has 10 beds and 11 chairs, and offers ophthalmic care
to the population of South Essex.
Our ward has two bays with 4 beds in each bay separating male
and female patients. We have two side room and Day Stay Room for
our ambulatory day case patients.
Our opening hours are Monday morning to Friday evening. We also
cover emergency referrals from Friday evening to Monday morning. We
have 24 hours on call service which both include medical and
surgical ophthalmic admissions.
We care for patients coming in for elective and emergency cases
which include both medical and surgical ophthalmic admissions of

Visiting and other instructions
Visiting hours are 18:00 to 20:00 and at the discretion of the
ward manager or nurse in charge. Afternoon visiting is permitted
from 14:00 onwards on Thursdays.
Protected mealtimes are maintained on this ward; please do not
visit when patients are eating.
Please restrict visitor numbers to a maximum of two per
patient unless previously arranged with the ward
