This short stay medical unit provides comprehensive, high quality care to patients with a wide variety of medical conditions who can be treated and discharged within 24 to 72 hours.
Our aim is to provide a supportive environment fostering a
person-centred care to enable patients to reach their optimum level
of health and independence. We treat a wide variety of acute
medical conditions from across all specialities, including
respiratory, cardiac and neurological conditions as well as other
conditions, which may require careful observation, intravenous
drugs or skilled assessment.
A dedicated team of consultants and doctors provide medical
care. Daily ward rounds take place between 8:20 to 11:00 and care
is continually reviewed during the day. Wide ranges of
multidisciplinary staff also support the unit. Referrals will be
made to other disciplines if this is appropriate to your care.
If you require a longer stay in hospital you will be transferred
to the appropriate ward within 3 days of admission. If you are
medically fit for discharge, we will plan your discharge
