There are many different types
of both state maintained schools and independent schools. To help

You can also visit the Southend-on-Sea Borough
Council Schools and Learning site for more information on local
schools, from Primary,
Secondary and colleges and the local university.
Southend and the local area has
12 Outstanding Ofsted rated schools.
Southend has four grammar
schools, Southend High School for Girls, Southend High School for
Boys, Westcliff High School for Girls and Westcliff High School for
Boys, all located within 1-3 miles of the Hospital

Admissions
If you've moved to England with
your child you can
apply for your
children to attend a maintained school or Academy regardless of their immigration status.
However, different rules operate in relation to those making
applications for children not yet living in the UK. These rules are
