  • Newly qualified nurses
  • Those who are registered nurses in a foreign country, who currently work as HCAs, and interested in registering to work as an RN in the UK (subject to NMC criteria).

The event allows potential new recruits interested in working at the hospital to find out more, ask questions, take a tour and potentially interview all on the same dedicated recruitment day.

Nurses and staff from all specialties will be on hand to talk about their roles at Southend and the benefits available to staff who join the team.  You will also have the opportunity to tour the hospital and visit our Simulation Suite; the £120,000 centre is designed to look and feel like a typical patient bay, complete with a sophisticated manikin that can be used to stage any medical scenario for training and better understanding.

The event will run from 10am - 2pm in the Education Centre and is open to registered nurses and those noted above, with no booking required.

Deputy Chief Nurse Cheryl Schwarz said: "We have a great team here at Southend Hospital and we are excited about welcoming new recruits into the Trust.  We have been successful in interviewing and recruiting new nurses on the day at the other events we have run this year, so our hopes are high for attracting a crowd of potential new staff to the recruitment event."

HDU Recruitment event

Are you ready for an exciting new challenge?

A fantastic opportunity has arisen with a number of medical and non-medical vacancies within our critical care unit as we are expanding critical care with a new high dependency unit at Southend Hospital, which will allow successful applicants to work across two units.

The critical care unit is currently a 10 bedded unit catering for level 2 and level 3 patients from all across the hospital. The proposed HDU will be developed to have 8 beds caring for medical and surgical patients.

Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Mid Essex Hospital NHS Trust, Trust and Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, have teamed together to deliver a programme to sustain service and improve care.

We have made a real commitment to work together and already have in place a joint executive team to drive forward our ambitious plan to reconfigure and redesign our services and pathways across our hospitals and in the community.

Across mid and south Essex we care for a diverse population in cities, towns, and even by the sea. We want to ensure we meet the local needs of our combined 1.2million population and build on our established regional specialist centres of excellence.

Our combined size means we can offer a wide range of jobs and opportunities at any one of our sites and we recognise our quest for excellence can only be achieved by developing staff at all levels to fulfil their potential.

We are passionate about doing a good job and proving quality care for the community we serve, both today and in the future.

Why not join us on Wednesday 18th October 17 from 3pm -6pm for our HDU Recruitment Event at Southend Hospital. For overseas doctors and nurses you will be able to join in a Skype presentation from 15:30 - 16:30 GMT.
