Southend University Hospital holds recruitment open days regularly throughout the year.

We welcome anyone who is a:
- Registered nurse (RN)
- Those looking to return to practice as a
- Newly qualified nurses
- Those who are registered nurses in a foreign country,
who currently work as HCAs, and interested in registering to work
as an RN in the UK (subject to NMC criteria).
- Allied Health Professionals (AHP)
The event allows potential new recruits interested in working at
the hospital to find out more, ask questions, take a tour and
potentially interview all on the same dedicated recruitment
Nurses and staff from all specialties will be on hand to talk
about their roles at Southend and the benefits available to staff
who join the team. You will also have the opportunity to tour
the hospital and visit our Simulation Suite; the £120,000 centre is
designed to look and feel like a typical patient bay, complete with
a sophisticated manikin that can be used to stage any medical
scenario for training and better understanding.
The event will run from 10am - 2pm in the Education Centre and

Deputy Chief Nurse Cheryl Schwarz said: "We have a great team

A fantastic opportunity has arisen with a number of medical and
non-medical vacancies within our critical care unit as we are
expanding critical care with a new high dependency unit at Southend
Hospital, which will allow successful applicants to work across two
The critical care unit is currently a 10 bedded unit catering
for level 2 and level 3 patients from all across the hospital. The
proposed HDU will be developed to have 8 beds caring for medical
and surgical patients.
