  • Suspicion of myeloma, or other B cell dyscrasias.

  • Suspicion of immune deficiency

  • Investigation of high serum globulin level, or raised ESR.

Unlabelled or incorrectly labelled sample; assay within previous month

Reference Ranges

Age related reference ranges are reported; see laboratory report for paediatric ranges.

Adult ranges:

IgA  0.7 - 4.0 g/L

IgG  7.0 - 16.0 g/L

IgM  0.4 - 2.3 g/L

Further investigations will be performed if an abnormal band is found: confirmation of paraprotein, identification and quantitation of any monoclonal band.
