Clinical Indications

Urine protein is measured in preference to albumin in patients who are urine dipstick positive, to quantify and monitor proteinuria. Urine protein is also used for monitoring in pre-eclampsia

Causes for Rejection

Unlabelled or incorrectly labelled sample; not early morning urine; delay of more than 5 days in sample reaching laboratory or in wrong sample container
