Clinical Indications


Test Includes

Test for IgG and/or IgM antibodies against a range of viruses dependent on the date of onset/contact with the suspected infection and other clinical information received (see "Causes for Rejection" below)

Samples should be transported to laboratory immediately

Causes for Rejection

Not meeting specific criteria for analysis
Delay in sample reaching laboratory
If insufficient information is given on the request form, and/or it is not possible to contact the requesting clinician for further information, the sample will be stored until sufficient information is received to determine which virus antibody tests should be performed

Lab Handling

Aliquot and store at 4ºC; send to the Reference Laboratory (Addenbrookes) as soon as possible. Second aliquot stored at -40°C for 3 months from date of receipt
