Southend Hospital Charity is the associated corporate charity for Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Southend Hospital Charity (Registered Charity No. 1057266)

Like other NHS hospitals, Southend Hospital Charity administers designated 'special funds' for the benefit of wards and departments, legacies and general donations to the hospital.

Charitable giving by patients, the local community and businesses has always played and will continue to play a vital role in our hospital, helping to provide state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, and ensuring the best possible standards for our patients.

We work closely with staff, past and present patients and volunteer groups to help the hospital fulfil its mission of putting patients first.

Examples of recent items you have helped to provide include:

  • Humidifier for cardiac care
  • Toys for Neptune children's ward
  • Glideaway guest bed for palliative care
  • Pressure relieving seat cushions for Balmoral ward
  • Anatomical models of joints for day surgery

We are so grateful for the support we get from patients and their families who go through such mammoth endeavour to raise funds, often for the wards and departments which have treated them or their loved ones.

From air pal beds to help patients undergoing radiotherapy to be moved more comfortably, to a 'cuddle cot' for the newly bereaved parents of stillborn babies, to donations big and small…the list of your generous giving is endless and heart-warming.
