Sexual health

Friendly, confidential and free, our sexual health clinic provides full screening for sexually transmitted infections. We also offer a same-day test for HIV, and advice and treatment for a range of sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Southend-on-Sea Borough Council's Public Health Directorate launched a new sexual health service on Monday 1 April 2019.

This new service, delivered by the Southend University Hospital and Provide, a social enterprise, sees the teams work closely together, in the same building, delivering a seamless service for patients.

The service will deliver improved sexual health services to the residents of Southend, including contraceptive advice and services, and diagnosis and treatment for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), with online access to services coming soon.

Located at Thamesgate House, 31-44 Victoria Avenue, Southend-on-Sea, SS2 6DF, the intelligence centre acts as a single point of access to the service, providing triage, appointment booking, signposting, and STI results management. The Terrence Higgins Trust are also continuing to provide HIV prevention and sexual health outreach services at the centre.

The operating hours of the Southend Sexual Health Service are:

We are unable to provide test results without this number. If you lose your card or number we will ask you to come back into the clinic so that we can give you your test results in person.
