Women's health
Our women's health service spans a wide range of departments and specialisms:
- Gynaecology -general clinics run throughout the week, dealing
with a range of disorders
- Menopause - a clinic providing advice and care relating to all
aspects of the menopause
- Urogynaecology - care and support for female incontinence and
prolapse problems, working with physiotherapists
- Outpatient hysteroscopy - examination of the uterus under local
anaesthetic in an outpatient setting
- Minor procedures clinic - monthly sessions during which
procedures such as biopsies and the insertion of Mirena coils (a
hormone-releasing contraceptive device which is placed into the
womb)
- Maternity (obstetrics) clinics - care provided for women with
high-risk pregnancies (the majority of care is carried out at the
GP surgery or community health clinics)
- Diabetic clinic - offering specialist care for women with type
1 and type 2 diabetes during their pregnancy, labour and post natal
period
- Haematological clinic - monthly sessions for women with blood
disorders that may complicate their pregnancy, or require close
monitoring during pregnancy
